When HIMT was established in 1998 I was the Principal Officer, MMD Chennai. At that time I was also the Chairman of the Southern Academic Council (under DGS) – which was responsible for inspection and approval of all institutes, including HIMT. I’ve seen this Institute grow from strength to strength with Mr Vakil’s perseverance, diligence and devotion- to the cause of maritime training. “Today I have the previlage to visit this beautiful institute on the request of Shri. Vakil. Incidentally, I happened to be involved in approval of various courses in its initial stages as P.O. MMD Chennai. It is really unbelievable that the institute has grown from strength to strength. The premises is excellent and facilities and arrangement are of top class. This has only possible because of Shri Vakils hard work and uncompromising attitude towards quality and lastly but not least, the grace of god. To me, it is the best maritime institute in India.
