Summary:
An 20year old ship was in transit from UAE to Mumbai. All were going good and suddenly Exhaust temp went up. Adjusted fuel rack and kept Exhaust temp under control, after 1day again found Exhaust temp increasing. It was decided to change the exhaust valve and stopped the engines in mid sea, changed the exhaust valve with overhauled one, started the ME engine it was found not starting. Struggled for 2days, and made engine alright

Corrective Action/ Lessons to be learnt:
Don’t do any changes or modifications in ME without knowing the correct problem and without consulting manufacturer..

Incident:
10 Million loss on charter for two days
