Corrective Action/ Lessons to be learnt:
To monitor liner & piston rings condition by vessels inspection report and by scavenge drain analysis at sea must be carried out at least once a month / unit

Incident:
When joining it was told that twice in recent past both liner and piston had worn down badly. It was a occurring frequently, hence it was decided to do scavenge drain analysis, and the result of analysis shown about high TBN value of cylinder oil. Repeated cyclic tests were carried out, and the BN value was brought to normal.
